Ανακοινώθηκε η λίστα με τις υποψηφιότητες για τα Βραβεία της Ακαδημίας Κινηματογράφου, τα Όσκαρ 2026.
Το Sinners σάρωσε με 16 υποψηφιότητες, σπάζοντας ρεκόρ, ενώ ακολουθεί το One Battle After the Other, το οποίο συγκεντρώνει 13 υποψηφιότητες. To Μarty Supreme του Τιμοτέ Σαλαμέ έχει εννέα ενώ το Hamnet οκτώ.
Η Βουγονία του Έλληνα Γιώργου Λάνθιμου έχει τέσσερις υποψηφιότητες, με την Έμμα Στόουν να διεκδικεί και πάλι το χρυσό αγαλματίδιο, ενώ η ταινία διεκδικεί το βραβείο Καλύτερης Ταινίας. Ακόμη, είναι υποψηφία για Όσκαρ μουσικής και διασκευασμένου σεναρίου.
Οι υποψηφιότητες για τα 98α βραβεία Όσκαρ ανακοινώθηκαν από το ιστορικό Samuel Goldwyn Theater στο Λος Άντζελες από τη Ντανιέλ Μπρουκς και τον Λιούις Πούλμαν, και περιλαμβάνουν και μια ολοκαίνουργια κατηγορία: Καλύτερο Κάστινγκ.
Φέτος, συνολικά 201 ταινίες διεκδίκησαν μια θέση στην κατηγορία Καλύτερης Ταινίας, ωστόσο μόνο 10 κατάφεραν να προκριθούν.
Ο Κόναν Ο’Μπράιεν επιστρέφει ως παρουσιαστής της τελετής των Όσκαρ, η οποία θα μεταδοθεί ζωντανά την Κυριακή 15 Μαρτίου, στις 7 μ.μ. ώρα Ανατολικής Ακτής (ET), από το ABC και μέσω streaming στο Hulu. Από το 2029 και μετά, η τελετή απονομής θα μεταδίδεται στο YouTube.
