Ανακοινώθηκαν οι υποψηφιότητες για τις Χρυσές Σφαίρες 2012, η τελετή της απονομής των οποίων θα γίνει στις 15 Ιανουαρίου στο ξενοδοχείο Beverly Hilton στις ΗΠΑ. Την ανακοίνωση των υποψηφιοτήτων έκαναν οι Σοφία Βεργκάρα, Γούντι Χάρλεσον και Τζέραλντ Μπάτλερ.
«Μάχη» για την Χρυσή Σφαίρα δραματικού ρόλου αναμένεται να δώσουν η Μέριλ Στριπ για την ερμηνεία της στη Σιδηρά Κυρία και Τίλντα Σούιντον για το We Need to Talk About Kevin, ενώ αρκετές υποψηφιότητες συγκέντρωσε το The Ιdes of March με τους Κλούνει και Γκόσλινγκ να διεκδικούν χρυσή σφαίρα σκηνοθεσίας και δραματικού ηθοποιού αντίστοιχα. Επίσης ο Κλούνει είναι υποψήφιος και για την ερμηνεία του στο The Descendant και ο Γκόσλινγκ για την ερμηνεία του και στο Crazy Stupid Love.
