Ex-finance minister Yanis Varoufakis in an 'extremely snazzy shirt'

Greece's ex- Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis appeared in Parliament dressed as if he’d come from a nightclub.

The iconoclastic academic, economist and blogger, who made international headlines with his brusque negotiating tactics and unusual fashion sense, led the negotiations with Greece's EU/IMF creditors up until the morning after the referendum of July 5.

The next morning and while the Greeks overwhelmingly rejected their creditors proposals Varoufakis gave a press conference in a gray T-shirt announcing his resignation as finance minister, while he retained his parliamentary seat.

Know as a sartorial rebel Varoufkais visited Britain's George Osborne in February dressed in an ultra-casual look.

He appeared in Eurogroup meetings and parliament sessions without a tie. Sometimes he wore a leather jacket or a Barbour, a Burberry scarf, or a shirt that was perhaps a little bit too tight.

As the Guardian reports: In this upside-down world, this level of normality meant he was dubbed everything from a rock star to a sex god.
