Energy minister Panagiotis Lafazanis, has called the new three-year bailout offered by eurozone leaders “unacceptable.”
Lafazanis, a hardliner who fiercely opposed new austerity measures and leader of an extreme left fraction within Syriza known as the Left Platform, has called on Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to withdraw the bailout agreement before it’s ratified by the parliament on Wednesday.
In a statement released to the press Lafazanis describes the deal as “unacceptable” saying that it “voids the people’s mandate of their proud ‘No’ that was expressed in the referendum .
"Our so-called partners led by the German establishment, had treated Greece as a colony and they are nothing more than brutal blackmailers and financial murderers", Lafazanis notes.
He concedes that the agreement will be ratified with the votes of opposition parties, namely New Democracy, Pasok and Potami, but claims that it will never be accepted by the people who would annul it in practice.
According to Reuters Lafazanis is not expected to resign for now. "He is not expressing an intention to resign voluntarily for now," aides close to energy minister said.
