Kostas Karamanlis urges Greek people to vote 'Yes'

Ex-Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis is expected to give a press conference at midday on Thursday, in response to the Greek government’s decision to carry out a referendum on Sunday.

Kostas Karamanlis, who served as prime minister of Greece (2004–09) is expected to make a statement urging to Greek people to vote 'Yes' in this Sunday's referendum on whether to accept the terms of a bail-out deal from the country's creditors.

“The nation's most vital interests require the country to remain within the heart of Europe. The existing imperfections of the European Union do not negate the value of this strategic orientation. Unwise choices undermine this principle and push the country towards vicissitudes with unpredictable and potentially irreversible consequences” the statement reads.
