The Greek government has condemned a "murderous terrorist attack" in Jerusalem that killed six people and called for a political solution to end the "cycle of violence" in the region.
"We categorically condemn today’s murderous terrorist attack in Jerusalem," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. "We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the victims’ families and wish the injured a swift recovery."
The attack occurred Monday when two Palestinian gunmen from the West Bank opened fire on a crowded bus stop in the Ramot Junction area of northern Jerusalem. Six people were killed and more than a dozen were wounded before the assailants were shot and killed by an off-duty soldier and a civilian.
The militant group Hamas praised the attack, calling it a "heroic operation."
