A 64-year-old man accused of stabbing his brother to death in Crete told police he "slaughtered him like a pig" and showed no remorse during his arrest, authorities have said.
The suspect allegedly made the chilling admission shortly after officers arrived at the family home in the village of Martha on Saturday night.
Police sources said the man boasted about beating his 67-year-old sibling, claiming the victim had attempted to strike him first.
"He tried to hit me? No one can hit me," the suspect reportedly told investigators, adding that he "landed some good punches" before the fatal stabbing.
The violence was apparently triggered by a dispute over car keys.
The suspect had called the Viannos Police Station earlier to complain that his brother had taken them.
Officers overheard the argument on the line and rushed to the scene, arriving within 10 minutes to find the victim dead with a knife embedded in his stomach.
Investigators later discovered the keys in the suspect’s own room, suggesting the victim had not taken them.
The scene bore signs of a severe struggle, including boot prints on the victim's head.
The killing has shocked the small community of Martha.
Police noted the suspect's cold demeanor and lack of repentance. He faces murder charges and is expected to appear before a prosecutor in Heraklion.
Local media reported the suspect was previously involved in a 2011 shooting incident, though authorities have not officially confirmed the connection.
