Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to visit Athens this month for talks focused on energy security and military aid, Greek officials have announced, as Kyiv seeks crucial fuel supplies for the winter.
Government sources confirmed diplomatic teams are coordinating the visit for November.
The trip coincides with a high-level transatlantic energy conference in Athens this week, which has highlighted Europe's shift away from Russian gas.
Energy cooperation is expected to be the central topic. Athens and Washington have been advancing a plan to make Greece a key entry point for U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG).
This "Vertical Corridor" plan involves piping supplies from terminals like Alexandroupolis north to Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and ultimately Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials report low fuel storage after recent Russian strikes on energy infrastructure and plan to boost gas imports, with U.S. LNG arriving via Greece seen as a key option.
Mr. Zelensky is also expected to press Greek leaders for further military assistance.
Kyiv continues to seek advanced air-defense systems, and NATO partners have reportedly pressed Athens to consider transferring some of its Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine.
Discussions may also touch on the role of Greek companies in post-war reconstruction, ahead of the "ReBuild Ukraine" summit in Warsaw.
