Police have arrested two minors and their parents after a 15-year-old girl was severely beaten by two other teenagers in Heraklion in an attack filmed on a mobile phone, authorities said.
Police from Heraklion's Crime Prevention and Detection Unit were alerted by doctors at the University General Hospital of Heraklion after the girl was treated for her injuries.
Investigators determined the 15-year-old had arranged to meet two other minors, ages 14 and 16, following a phone call to resolve what were described as personal disputes.
During the meeting, the 14-year-old and 16-year-old allegedly struck the victim repeatedly in the head with their fists.
Police said another 15-year-old girl, of Albanian origin, along with other unidentified minors, watched from an elevated position and directed the attack while filming it on a mobile phone.
The 14-year-old involved in the beating and the 15-year-old who filmed the assault were arrested, and their phones were confiscated.
Both sets of parents were also arrested. The 16-year-old suspect remains at large, along with her parents, and is being sought under Greece's flagrante delicto procedure for apprehending suspects shortly after a crime.
The victim, feeling unwell following the attack, was taken to the hospital by her parents, where she received first aid before being discharged. A forensic medical examination has been ordered.
