Following his resignation from Parliament, former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is building his new political party around a tight-knit group of longtime allies and former ministers who have been with him since his time in power.
At the core of the new effort is Michalis Kalogirou, a lawyer and former justice minister who is considered Mr. Tsipras's closest confidant.
Mr. Kalogirou is expected to lead both the former prime minister's political office and his newly founded institute.
Giorgos Vasiliadis, a former deputy minister of sports, is slated to head the new party's organizational structure.
The economic policy team will reportedly be led by two of Mr. Tsipras's former top finance officials, Dimitris Liakos and Giorgos Chouliarakis.
Mr. Tsipras formally left the leftist Syriza party last week.
He is expected to launch his new, more centrist party in the spring of 2026, following the publication of his memoir this winter.
