The Thessaloniki Metro will be out of access for passengers from November 10 to December 10 due to trials on the extension to Kalamaria, it was announced on Tuesday.
Following a meeting at the Elliniko Metro SA, attended by the alternate and deputy minister of transport, it was announced that the shutdown section would be served by buses with more and frequent schedules. In addition, metro schedules of first and last trains would also change temporarily change before November 10 and after December 10.
The more than 2,200,200 passengers who use the Thessaloniki Metro will be served by local and long-distance (KTEL) buses. The buses will roughly follow the metro line and be coded "M1". They will make a total of 11 stops taking a total of 30 minutes to complete, while the buses will run every 10 minutes. More schedules will be added to bus lines 3K, 31, 39, 58, with a frequency of 8-10 minutes (from 12-18 minutes today).
Metro passengers with monthly, quarterly, or six-month duration cards will be compensated for lost days with an equivalent extension of the interruption.
