A 17-year-old girl has been hospitalized after collapsing at a bar from excessive alcohol consumption, authorities reported.
The minor, who was out celebrating her name day, reportedly lost consciousness after consuming four alcoholic drinks. Her condition is stable and not considered life-threatening. Police have opened a case for endangering a minor. An investigation is underway to determine how the teen was served alcohol and to locate the owner of the bar.
The incident has heightened public concern over underage drinking, following the recent tragic death of a 16-year-old girl in Gazi, Crete.
It has also renewed calls for stricter enforcement of laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors.
