Five Turkish nationals have been jailed pending trial on organized crime charges after being arrested last week at a luxury villa in the Athens suburb of Oropos.
Authorities allege the men are members of a Turkish mafia organization coordinating drug, arms, and human trafficking between Greece and Spain.
The suspects have denied the charges.
They claim to be political asylum seekers who legally purchased property through the golden visa program and that the small amount of drugs found was for personal use.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by Greek police to crack down on transnational criminal networks.
