Six Turkish nationals who were living in luxury villas and driving expensive cars despite being asylum seekers without formal employment have been arrested in a series of coordinated raids targeting organized crime, Greek police have said.
The raids were carried out by the Organized Crime Division on Wednesday morning in the affluent Attica suburbs of Oropos, Neos Voutzas, and the Mesogeia region.
During searches of the suspects' residences, police seized a pistol, cannabis, four luxury vehicles, and over 4,000 euros in cash.
In one of the raids, officers said they caught suspects attempting to destroy drug evidence by throwing it into a bathroom basin.
The six individuals face initial charges for drug and weapons law violations.
Authorities said national arrest warrants for more serious felony charges are also pending against all of them.
The suspects will be brought before a prosecutor.
