Search and rescue teams continue to scour rugged terrain in northern Greece for a 45-year-old fire service commander who has been missing since Tuesday, leaving authorities and family fearing for his safety.
The officer, who heads the fire brigade unit in Ano Poroia in the Serres region, disappeared after leaving his home earlier in the week.
According to police, he departed in his vehicle but left behind essential personal items, including his mobile phone and wallet.
A "Silver Alert" has been issued to mobilize public assistance.
Civil protection teams from the Sintiki municipality have joined forces with police, firefighters, and volunteer groups to comb the area.
The operation has been expanded to include drones scanning the difficult topography for any sign of the missing commander or his vehicle.
Authorities urged anyone with information to contact the police immediately.
