A search and rescue operation is underway off the Greek island of Lefkada for two young people who were swept out to sea by strong currents while on stand-up paddleboards, the Coast Guard said.
Authorities launched the operation after the pair managed to send a distress signal from their mobile phones using the 112 emergency system.
The incident occurred in challenging weather conditions, with winds in the area reaching up to five Beaufort.
Coast Guard vessels are continuing to comb the waters for the two missing individuals.
The search, which initially focused on the southeast of Lefkada, has now shifted to the island's southwestern coast.
