The Saronikos Port Authority announced this week that all sea sports, including the use of jet skis, sea bikes, surf-jets, and similar watercraft, will be temporarily banned during peak afternoon hours on Attica beaches in residential areas along the Athenian Riviera.
The ban will be in effect daily from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting June 1 and continuing through September 30, as part of efforts to ensure public safety and reduce disturbances for beachgoers and residents.
The restriction applies to both privately owned and rented sea vessels and watercraft and affects the following beaches: in the Municipality of Palaio Faliro, from Cine Flisvos southeast along the coastline to Vathi Street; in the Municipality of Elliniko–Argyroupoli, from Alpha Street to Evryalis Street; in the Municipality of Glyfada, from Evryalis Street to Grigoriou Lambraki Street and then to Prigkipos Petrou Street; in the Municipality of Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni, from Prince Petrou Street to Kronou Street and Sfakia Street; in the Municipality of Kropia, from Agia Marina Avenue to Apiranthou Street; and in the Municipality of Saronikos (Saronida), from Apeiranthos Street to the 44th kilometer of the Athens–Sounio Avenue.
Violators will face fines and legal action, according to the Port Authority’s statement.
Authorities are urging beach visitors and watercraft operators to respect the designated hours and restricted zones.
This move follows ongoing concerns over noise, overcrowding, and safety hazards caused by sea sports in densely populated coastal areas during the busy summer months.
