Unsettled weather is expected in Greece on Thursday and Friday, according to a forecast by the National Observatory of Athens weather service meteo.gr on Wednesday. The eastward movement of an atmospheric disturbance in the mid troposphere from the central Mediterranean toward southern Greece will bring rain and local storms in many parts of the country.
These will be accompanied by a sharp drop in temperatures, by up to 8-9 degrees centigrade relative to temperatures on Wednesday, and a plume of Saharan dust in the mid-troposphere that may lead to muddy rain in several localities. The phenomena on Friday may be more severe in parts of northern Crete. It should be noted that dust concentrations near the surface will not be particularly high.
Wind speeds in the Aegean will rise to 6-7 Beaufort, with a chance of hail in the southern Aegean.
