A new Alco poll for Alpha television shows Greece's ruling New Democracy party holding a nearly 10-point lead in vote intention, even as two-thirds of respondents say they favor a change of government over a third New Democracy term.
New Democracy stands at 24.3%, up slightly from June, with the new ELAS party led by Alexis Tsipras at 14.4%, having lost some ground. PASOK, under Nikos Androulakis, rose to 11.1%. Greek Solution follows at 6.4%, the Communist Party (KKE) at 6.2%, Freedom Sailing at 3.5%, and Mrs. Maria Karystianou's Hope for Democracy party barely clearing the parliamentary threshold at 3.1% — a sharp drop from 7.8% in June's Alco survey.
The poll suggests broad disappointment following recent party conference announcements: just 9% said government measures to reduce consumer prices had worked well, while 77% saw no meaningful change.
Only 13% believe Mr. Mitsotakis's newly announced measures will meaningfully help their household finances, against 48% who disagree.
Still, Mr. Mitsotakis maintains a clear edge in personal trust metrics, with 27% saying he is most likely to deliver on his promises, compared with 14.5% for Mr. Tsipras and 12.5% for Mr. Androulakis — though 40% chose "none of them." Asked who best understands Greek society's problems, Mr. Mitsotakis led with 22%, ahead of Mr. Tsipras at 14% and Mr. Androulakis at 8%, while "none" topped the field at 27%.
Overall satisfaction with the government remains low: 58% said they are "not at all" satisfied with its performance.
