Greece’s ruling New Democracy (ND) party maintains a commanding 16.5-point lead over the opposition Pasok party, a new poll showed, with the government's standing apparently buoyed by strong public approval of recent energy agreements with the United States.
The nationwide poll, conducted by Opinion Poll for Action 24, places ND at 30.2% in vote estimation, followed by Pasok at 13.7% and Greek Solution at 10.7%.
The survey also highlighted significant voter uncertainty, with nearly one in five voters (19.6%) remaining undecided.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis continues to dominate the field on suitability for the office, at 29.1%.
A key takeaway from the poll is the strong public resonance of the energy deals signed in Athens last week. Nearly half of those surveyed (48.9%) believe the agreements enhance Greece’s strategic role. Specifically, 56.7% view the AKTOR–DEPA–Venture Global deal for U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport as significant, and 54.5% believe the developments will strengthen the economy.
An overwhelming 73.1% said U.S.-Greece relations are deepening.
The poll showed other opposition parties lagging, with Course of Freedom at 9%, the Communist Party (KKE) at 8.1%, and the once-dominant Syriza party polling at just 4.2%.
The survey also tested hypothetical new parties, finding a potential party led by former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras would draw 8.9% of the vote, while one led by former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras would attract 3.5%.
