Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the ICEYE company's facilities in Neo Psychiko on Monday.

The company is active in the construction and operation of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellites. The Greek Premier, accompanied by Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, was given a tour of the company's offices and production facilities and was briefed on its activities by ICEYE CEO Rafał Modrzewski and Head of ICEYE Greece Vasilis Chaloulakos.

Mitsotakis emphasised that this is a European success story and that Europe can prove it can be a leader in the highly advanced technologies of the future. He also expressed his satisfaction that the company has a presence in Greece. "We want to be part of this ecosystem and attract talent from abroad, but also from Greece, ensuring that Greek human capital can contribute to the company's growth," Mitsotakis stressed, adding that "we are becoming part of your ecosystem through our own satellites, which are critical in terms of monitoring the environment—whether we are talking about natural disasters or other applications—but also for the defence and security of the country."

The company is manufacturing the first two Greek SAR satellites, which will be launched into orbit by the end of 2025. It also operates a new, exclusive satellite subsystem production line at its facilities in Greece. The parts currently manufactured in Greece account for approximately 15% of each satellite and are exported for the construction of the company's global fleet. It was also announced that, through the National Micro-Satellite Program, the Ministry of National Defence will have access to very high-resolution SAR satellite data. Mitsotakis was also informed that ICEYE Hellas plans to begin full satellite construction in Greece in 2026, from the first component to final assembly. This will make Greece the second location in Europe where ICEYE will build satellites from scratch, creating a production line that can produce 3–4 satellites in parallel and at least 8 per year. For his part, Papastergiou noted: "we were very pleased to see that the company did not just come to open an office formally but is manufacturing Greek microsatellites. Now, parts of global production are being manufactured in our country by a company that is a leader in the field of space technology. It is extremely important that, through the Greek Micro-Satellite Program, Greek scientists have returned and are working in the ecosystem," he said.
