The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed an event on Tuesday organised by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy to mark the delivery of five high-speed patrol boats to the Hellenic Coast Guard.
"A strong Coast Guard means strong maritime defence for the entire European structure, as Greece's maritime territory coincides with Europe's external borders," Mitsotakis stressed.
The Greek Premier emphasised that these patrol boats not only upgrade the Coast Guard but also confirm the ongoing commitment that "Greek waters will remain safe and that legality will extend throughout their entire territory." "Given the challenge of migration, these vessels embody the dual nature of maritime security. They have defensive capabilities, and they are also designed for humanitarian operations, including search and rescue," he noted.
Mitsotakis underscored that Greece's approach to migration is linked to both securing its borders and protecting human life.
