Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to salary increases in the private sector due to fewer withholdings and to special tax provisions for young employees and families in a TikTok post on Friday, saying the government was true to its word.
"I understand very well the difficulties households are facing, due to high prices, and I know well that no relief measure is enough by itself," Mitsotakis said.
"However, as of today, wage earners in the private sector will see true salary raises in their wage statements due to the reduction of taxes that we voted for with the 2026 state budget. These raises you will see will equal - under circumstances - up to 2 extra salaries a year, depending on salary scale, age, and mainly family state, that is, how many children you have. At the Thessaloniki International Fair [TIF] in September, we had clearly announced tax relief measures for families with children, young people who are now starting their career, tax relief measures for the middle class."
The premier concluded, "We said it, and we did it!"
