Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in an interview with SKAI TV, emphasised that Greece is not engaging in discussions regarding sovereignty issues with Türkiye.
"Greece will never accept any grey zone theory or allow Türkiye to tell us what we will or will not do within areas of Greek sovereignty," he said.
He noted that he always looked forward to "calm waters" with the neighbouring country and said that to a certain extent "we have succeeded at least in avoiding extreme tensions and better management of the migration issue."
Mitsotakis reiterated that Greece's only difference with Ankara is the delimitation of maritime zones and the continental shelf. Regarding the next High Cooperation Council, he said that it will take place in due course.
He also said he would meet Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan at the UN General Assembly. He stressed that marine parks are purely an environmental initiative and should be embraced by all countries.
"The marine parks extend within the range of our territorial waters. Our territorial waters are determined by the islands which belong to Greece, and there is no question of Türkiye disputing Greek islands," Mitsotakis stressed.
