"Credibility is not built on austerity alone. It is built on efficiency. By delivering results through better institutions, clear rules and modern systems," Eurogroup President and Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, said in a post about his intervention at the "The World Ahead 2026" Conference, organized by the Economist.
"Europe’s strength was not perfection, it was perseverance. It was not uniformity, but cooperation. To translate our values into results, the answer cannot be simply rhetorical, but fully operational," Kyriakos Pierrakakis noted in his post.
In the short video accompanying the post, Pierrakakis focused on the need for quick and effective moves and decisions, highlighting, among other things, the following:
- Europe's strength has never been perfection, it has been perseverance. It has not been uniformity, but cooperation.
- The lesson is not to withdraw from global markets. The lesson is to participate with discipline, to differentiate, to invest, to interconnect, because the world to come will not judge us by our declarations, but by our performance.
- Credibility is not built only on the basis of austerity, but by the creation of better, more stable institutions of modern systems. And this is why the digital state matters.
- The world to come will not judge us by our declarations, it will judge us by the results
