Thessaloniki needs a truly Unified Strategic Plan of Infrastructure with very clear priorities, adequate funding, and transparency, PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) said on Thursday, responding to earlier presentation by the prime minister of large-scale projects.
In a joint statement by the party's infrastructure and transport section, PASOK-KINAL members said that the government's plan 'Thessaloniki Agenda 2030' is a PR tool "presented since 2020" that "cultivates the illusion that something is moving in Thessaloniki." But in reality, PASOK charged, there is no real progress and even the timetables are old and not updated.
In the statement, the party members cited as example the Urban Railroad of Western Thessaloniki, "which requires just 15 million euros to be implemented. But at the same time, in 'Agenda 2030' it shows up as having already been auctioned off and with a concessionaire since 2023, which of course is not true. We heard however that it will be turned over for use in 2025. This sloppiness reveals their untrustworthiness and the weight they give Thessaloniki, when they do not even bother to update the Agenda."
The party went on to name other projects as well, including the ThessINTEC, the Pier 6 project, and the Urban Transport Organization of Thessaloniki (OASTh) that is under liquidation since 2017 among others. "Citizens deserve projects that will be implemented, not announcements that are carried over from year to year."
