PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) expressed support on Tuesday for firefighters' request that they be granted an allowance for dangerous and unhealthy work.
A related joint statement was issued by Andreas Poulas, responsible for the climate crisis and civil protection division of the party, and the division's secretary, Michalis Chalaris.
"The men and women of the Fire Department fight colossal battles with selflessness on a daily basis, placing themselves in the line of danger. Instead of recognizing their work in practical terms, the state continues to treat them with unequal measures," Poulas and Chalaris said. The firefighters' recent letter to the prime minister reflected exactly that, their disappointment and frustration for the unfair treatment, the two party officials said.
The two officials also noted that PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis has committed publicly to support their demand.
