American forward Robin Parks is poised to become the first naturalized player to compete for the Greek Women’s National Basketball Team, the team announced Friday.
The 32-year-old is nearing the completion of her Greek citizenship process through the country's New York consulate and is expected to join the squad as it prepares for EuroBasket 2025.
Parks' inclusion mirrors a similar move on the men's national team, where Olympiacos guard Thomas Walkup recently gained Greek nationality and represented the country at the Paris Olympic Games.
In addition to her national team debut, Parks is also set to play for Athens-based club Athinaikos.
The team is aiming to regain its top position in Greek women’s basketball after finishing as runner-up to Olympiacos in the most recent league finals.
Parks brings extensive European experience to both teams.
During the 2022-23 season, she played for Famila Schio in Italy, averaging 10.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in EuroLeague Women.
She most recently played in Turkey with Emlak Konut and has also played in Spain for Valencia, Sant Adrià, and Zaragoza.
Her addition is seen as a significant boost for the Greek national team and Athinaikos as they prepare for upcoming European competitions and domestic league play.
