New Democracy party remains in first place in a new GPO poll for iefimerida.gr, even as nearly 70% of respondents express dissatisfaction with the government's handling of key issues.
The July survey found 68.6% of respondents rated the government's performance negatively, while an even higher 79.6% gave negative marks to PASOK, the main opposition party.
GPO research director Antonis Papargyris said the findings point to a broader sense of stagnation rather than a clear rejection of the current government in favor of the past: 41.5% of respondents said their personal and family circumstances have stayed the same over the past seven years of New Democracy rule, while 28.9% said things are better now and 26.7% said they were better under the previous SYRIZA government.
Cost of living and price increases emerged as the dominant electoral concern, cited by 68.5% of respondents as a key factor in their upcoming vote, followed by corruption and rule-of-law issues (49.9%) and social concerns such as healthcare, education, housing and employment (41.8%).
New Democracy retained an edge on the economy (32.3% versus 21.2% for Mr. Tsipras's ELAS and 13.3% for PASOK) and foreign policy (39.2% versus 18.1% and 12.3%, respectively), though a large share of respondents declined to credit any party with clear competence in either area.
On corruption, no party commanded strong confidence, with 38.7% saying they trust none of the three main parties to address it.
In vote intention, New Democracy stood at 25.7%, down slightly from 26%, while ELAS held steady at 14.5%. PASOK slipped to 9.5% from 10.2%, and Maria Karystianou's Hope for Democracy party continued a downward trend, falling to 6.1% from its initial June reading of 9.2%. Support for a potential new party led by Antonis Samaras rose to 12.3%, up from 9.2% in June.
In projected vote share, New Democracy led with 29.3%, followed by ELAS at 16.6% and PASOK at 10.8%.
