Greece's ruling New Democracy party maintains a commanding 15.9-percentage-point lead over the opposition PASOK party, while a potential new party led by former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras shows significant initial support, according to a new poll.
The survey by Metron Analysis for Mega TV puts New Democracy (ND) at 28.7% of voter preference, slightly up from the previous poll, compared to PASOK's 12.8%.
The far-right Greek Solution party polled third at 11.7%, followed by the Communist Party (KKE) at 10% and the Freedom Movement at 9.9%. Syriza, Mr. Tsipras's former party, continued its decline, falling to 4.3%.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains the preferred choice for prime minister by a wide margin, 19 points ahead of any rival.
However, Freedom Movement leader Zoe Konstantopoulou registered the highest overall personal popularity rating at 39%, followed by KKE leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas (36%) and Mr. Mitsotakis (31%).
The poll explored the potential impact of new political movements from former leaders.
While a majority (50%) view a potential new party from Mr. Tsipras negatively, a significant bloc views it positively (38%).
When asked if they would vote for such a party, 11% said definitely and 13% said quite likely, giving him a combined potential starting base of 24%.
In contrast, potential support for a new party led by former conservative premier Antonis Samaras stood at 12%.
On the timing of the next election, Greek voters remain almost evenly divided, with 49% favoring an early vote and 48% preferring the government complete its full term until 2027.
Nearly a quarter of voters (23.2%) remain undecided.
