Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has joined a high-level call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders, where he stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire and robust, U.S.-backed security guarantees for Ukraine.
The teleconference, initiated by France, was held to coordinate the European position a day before a crucial White House meeting between Mr. Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump.
During the discussion, Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of active U.S. involvement to ensure a durable peace and reaffirmed Greece’s position that borders cannot be changed by force.
He stated that only Ukraine has the sovereign right to make decisions concerning its territorial integrity.
The leaders were also briefed on the recent summit between Mr. Trump and Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin in Alaska, which ended without a ceasefire agreement.
