Greek Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis has contected Ukrainian President Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss recent developments in Ukraine amidst the ongoing Russian invasion.
The telephone call on Wednesday took place ahead of the European Council meeting next week in Brussels, where the Ukraine conflict will be a central topic.
Mr. Mitsotakis’s office said the prime minister briefed President Zelenskyy on the outcomes of Monday’s “Summit for Peace” in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where a historic deal was signed to end the Israel-Gaza war.
Greece’s government, and Mr. Mitsotakis personally, remain vocal supporters of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the conflict that began in February 2022.
The two leaders exchanged views on regional and European security, emphasizing the need for continued diplomatic efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.
