Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and U.S. President Donald Trump met on Monday during a high-level summit in Egypt aimed at finalizing a peace agreement to end the war in Gaza.
The two leaders shared a warm handshake and a brief conversation ahead of the formal signing ceremony. The summit, co-chaired by Mr. Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, brought together leaders from 27 countries to endorse the deal.
Mr. Mitsotakis, who arrived earlier in the day, described the agreement as a "historic moment" and credited Mr. Trump for his role in the initiative.
"The release of hostages and detainees, along with the commitment to uphold the ceasefire, form the foundation of the first phase.
The challenge now is implementation," Mr. Mitsotakis said. "Because peace is confirmed only through actions.”
The Greek prime minister added that his country stands ready to actively contribute to diplomatic efforts to ensure the agreement moves forward.
