Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' speech opened the 14th conference of the party's youth organisation (ONNED) on Friday.
"Just like tomorrow, 51 years ago, a party was born that would leave its mark on the life of the country, but also on the lives of all of us: because on October 4, 1974, New Democracy (ND) was founded. The party was created "to serve the nation and its interests, as stated in its first Declaration," he said.
The Greek Premier expressed his confidence that the government will lead Greece forward with security and hope and stressed that Greece is changing for the better.
"Away from adventures that would jeopardise the achievements of the Greek people so far. But also by implementing a well-thought-out plan with tangible results and a horizon of 2030," Mitsotakis stressed.
Mitsotakis noted that, just as the New Democracy party won the trust of the younger generation in 2023, it will win it again in 2027. He also described the changes promoted by New Democracy in the workplace as unprecedented.
"The younger generation is seeking employment and decent wages. In 2019, I made a commitment to reduce unemployment, which currently stands at 8% and is continuing to fall. The basic salary for new entrants to the labour market has risen from 650 euros to 880 euros and will reach 950 euros in 2027," said Mitsotakis, adding that the Digital Work Card records overtime and protects employees, especially new ones, from any arbitrary actions by the employers.
Mitsotakis also referred to housing issue and government initiatives and added that only the ND party guarantees the national advantage of political stability.
