Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where the two leaders discussed next steps on the Greece-Cyprus electricity interconnector and a range of bilateral, European and regional issues.
The Paris meeting came a day after Mr. Mitsotakis held a trilateral summit with the Egyptian and Cypriot presidents in El Alamein, part of a broader diplomatic push to strengthen Eastern Mediterranean energy and security cooperation.
Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Macron exchanged views on developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, Iran and the Middle East.
Mr. Mitsotakis briefed his French counterpart on his visit to Egypt the previous day, where he met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.
The leaders focused on progress on the Great Sea Interconnector, the planned undersea power link between Greece and Cyprus, following an agreement for the investment group Meridiam to become the project's majority shareholder.
They also discussed joint Greek and French efforts to restrict social media access for children under 15, after Mr. Macron recently wrote to the European Commission president urging an EU-wide ban.
Mr. Mitsotakis raised concerns about the impact of the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz on energy prices, calling for coordinated action at the European Union level.
