Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his weekly address focused on public safety, highlighting the delivery of new firefighting vehicles and a new digital app to protect children online, while also warning of an approaching heatwave.
Mr. Mitsotakis praised the "Aegis" program for recently delivering 164 new fire trucks to the Greek Fire Service and urged property owners to help prevent wildfires by clearing flammable materials from their lots.
He also detailed the launch of "Kids Wallet," a Greek-developed parental control app.
The initiative has prompted a European-wide proposal for a unified age verification system for minors, which is now being piloted in Greece and four other EU countries.
Mr. Mitsotakis called it “a significant step toward a safer digital world for children.”
The prime minister also touched on the economy, noting the recent approval of 15 strategic investment projects totaling over 2.4 billion euros.
Other initiatives mentioned included cultural programs for young offenders and the opening of a vocational high school inside the Larissa penitentiary.
