Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Municipality of Haidari on Wednesday afternoon, where he spoke with citizens. The Greek Premier referred to Chevron's request for hydrocarbon exploration.
"It is the best proof of how the government perceives the country's upgrade. We are an important energy player in the Mediterranean," he stressed, adding that on Thursday he will meet at the Maximos Mansion with the US Secretary of the Interior, who is responsible for energy portfolios.Speaking at a public gathering, he said that elections will be held in 2027, when the government will be judged on its overall performance. He referred to the importance of political stability and the need to have a single-party government with a secure parliamentary majority.Speaking about the tax reform he announced at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), he said that it aims to support citizens in the face of high prices, with real wage increases resulting from tax cuts.
He pointed out that the government is returning the surplus from growth and stressed that Greece is an exception in Europe, as most countries are cutting spending and raising taxes.Mitsotakis stressed that families with children are a priority and added that the increases are very important and will be felt by workers and pensioners from January 2026.
Ahead of the start of the new school year, he recalled that 430 schools have been completely rebuilt, and the same will happen to another 2,000 through the "Marietta Giannakou" programme, with 300 million euros in funding from the Hellenic Bank Association."When I promised that better days are ahead, we meant it, and we are making it happen. As the economy grows, we will return growth dividends. We are focusing on public education, public health, and public services" Mitsotakis added.
