Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has said that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit showed how much weight Greece has gained in a region of shifting alliances, in his weekly social media review, which he shortened after citizens told him it ran too long.
Mr. Mitsotakis said the sixth Greece-U.S. Strategic Dialogue made cooperation more concrete in energy and defense.
He cited the Vertical Corridor, which can carry American liquefied natural gas north through Greece to Europe, along with upgrades to F-16s, the arrival of F-35s and a National Guard partnership with Florida.
He called Greece a "pillar of stability" and a bridge to the Middle East and Gulf.
On domestic measures, he said:
After last week's floods, the state will cover 100% of damage to homes and 70% of business equipment, with €97.8 million going to municipalities and regions for repairs. A new "e112" emergency system will allow messages and video.
A €95 million power subsidy for energy-intensive industry, including food, paper, plastics and cement, is under way.
The European Commission extended Greece's fiscal escape clause to cover energy-resilience spending, freeing nearly €1 billion by 2028 for heat pumps, solar water heaters for 100,000 households, storage and building upgrades.
A fuel subsidy doubles to up to 32 cents per liter from April to August.
More support may follow, he said.
The $2 billion Skouries gold and copper mine in Halkidiki opened, with 3,000 permanent jobs planned.
The draft 2027 budget projects growth of 2% this year and 2.3% in 2027.
Mr. Mitsotakis, who faces elections next year, also said police charged 18 influencers over illegal gambling promotion, and that private funding of €250 million will rebuild Olympiacos's stadium, with work starting in May 2027.
