Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis urged for de-escalation and immediate ceasefire in the Middle East during his meetings with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders on the sidelines of the first EU-GCC Summit.
Amid the region’s mounting tensions, Mr. Mitsotakis stressed the importance of avoiding further conflict, calling for restraint and an end to the violence.
During the summit, Mr. Mitsotakis held talks with key figures, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, and Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations Sheikh Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik.
The discussions also focused on enhancing EU-GCC relations, particularly in light of global and regional challenges.
Economic cooperation and investment opportunities in Greece were central to the talks, with Mr. Mitsotakis highlighting Greece's strategic role as a commercial and energy hub, serving as a vital gateway to Europe.
