Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during his discussion with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Friday afternoon, emphasised that Artificial Intelligence presents a new, significant, and exciting opportunity for Greece.
At an event to sign a MoC between the Greek government, OpenAI, and the Onassis Foundation aimed at introducing AI tools into education, Mitsotakis outlined the government’s strategy for employing artificial intelligence in public administration and other areas of particular significance.
The first axis, as he explained, concerns "how we can use AI to improve the work of governance itself, starting with the PM's Office, by identifying repetitive processes that can be automated and helping civil servants become more productive. "The second axis, the Greek premier said, relates to AI applications in specific sectors such as health and education.
The third axis developed by Mitsotakis concerns start-ups active in the field of AI that choose to operate in Greece.
Concluding with the fourth pillar of the government's policy on AI, Mitsotakis highlighted his personal interest in Greece's position within the global discourse surrounding AI ethics.
