Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry awards ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, stressed that nearly two years after the victorious 2023 elections, the government's primary challenge is not how to decelerate, but how to accelerate its reform agenda.
He also stressed that the government would continue to allocate resources in favour of growth momentum and social cohesion. The Greek premier, citing the recent economic support measures, recalled that the government chose to direct the surplus not only to pensioners and tenants but also to the Public Investment Programme, stressing that this pattern will be followed in the future.
Mitsotakis insisted that the government must make major reforms in favour of boosting growth “something", as he said, "that will bring us closer to Europe”. He also noted that the government's priority is the improving business productivity that will help Greece maintain higher growth rates than the European average.
The state's goal, Mitsotakis added, is to facilitate entrepreneurship not only through a stable tax system but also through regulations aimed at reducing bureaucracy. He concluded stressing that the government is promoting an initiative to address bureaucratic distortions in the labour market, as well as a similar effort to support exports by simplifying the relevant procedures.
