A documentary chronicling the life of Melania Trump premiered in Athens on Wednesday, drawing a Who’s Who of Greek politics and business to a black-tie gala hosted by U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle.
The invitation-only screening at the "Center of Athens" venue marked the film’s first public showing in Greece. Co-hosted by Mrs. Guilfoyle and popular Greek singer Konstantinos Argyros, the event highlighted the deepening cultural diplomacy between Washington and Athens.
"I am a personal friend of Melania," Mrs. Guilfoyle told reporters upon arrival. She expressed hope that Mrs. Trump would visit Greece in the near future to experience the country’s hospitality firsthand.
Strictly adhering to a black-and-white dress code, the guest list included Migration and Asylum Minister Thanos Plevris and his wife, Lena, as well as Climate Crisis Minister Giannis Kefalogiannis. Prominent figures from the private sector, including shipping magnate Marianna Latsi and business leader Katerina Panagopoulou, were also in attendance.
The premiere is the latest in a series of high-profile initiatives by the U.S. Embassy to extend its footprint beyond security and energy cooperation. Following the screening, Mr. Argyros joined the ambassador in welcoming guests to a cocktail reception, underscoring Athens' growing status as a hub for international soft power.
