Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis started the press briefing on Monday with a reference to the meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the President of the European Council Antonio Costa.
"During the statements, the prime minister said that they discussed the developments in Ukraine, which remains very high on our priorities. Mitsotakis expressed once again his support for talks taking place between the EU and the US to end the war and start peace talks, saying that it is a discussion that must take place with the participation of Ukraine and obviously only on the basis of the fundamental provisions of international law, with respect for the inviolability of borders and certainly with the observance of the necessary security guarantees."
On the occasion of the events in Poland, he said, that the prime minister reiterated the need for a common European financial instrument that would be able to finance defense equipment of common European interest.
