Madonna has continued sharing images from her Greek holiday, posting photographs from the island of Patmos where she visited the Cave of the Apocalypse and raised a glass of local beer with her eldest son, Rocco.
The 68-year-old pop star spent three days on Patmos after visiting Meteora and Corfu, where she celebrated her birthday.
She arrived on the Dodecanese island on Aug. 17 and visited the Cave of the Apocalypse and the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and Evangelist. Madonna said her return to Greece with Rocco had a personal meaning.
She wrote that the first time she visited Greece, she was seven months pregnant with him. Bringing him back to the country as an adult, she said, felt like “closing a circle.”
In images from the trip, Madonna and her son are shown at a seaside taverna drinking Mamos, a Greek beer produced by a Patras-based brewery.
The brewery responded on Instagram with a message thanking the singer, saying that seeing Madonna drinking Mamos in Patmos was “as iconic as it gets.”
Madonna also shared spiritual images from the island, including photographs taken inside an Orthodox church, where she covered her hair, lit candles and prayed.
She described the visit as deeply moving and said she felt the presence of God.
Patmos is known internationally as the island where, according to Christian tradition, the Apostle John received the visions recorded in the Book of Revelation.
The Cave of the Apocalypse and the monastery are among Greece’s most important religious and cultural sites.
Madonna’s Greek tour has combined luxury travel, family time and visits to historic religious landmarks, drawing extensive attention online.
