British artist Aubert Issachar opens his first solo exhibition in Greece on Wednesday at Roma Gallery in Kolonaki, arriving just months after his debut at Volta Basel, the satellite fair to Art Basel UBS, in a show gallery representatives are framing as a test of his commercial standing in the Greek market.
The exhibition, titled "Grids" and running through Oct. 10, is curated by art historian Alia Tsangari and brings together paintings from three series Mr. Issachar produced in 2025 and 2026: "Tantrums," "Totemic Grids" and "Triadic Grids."
Works are priced between €12,000 and €15,000, including VAT.
Mr. Issachar, born in London in 1979, already has work in private collections abroad and has shown in London and São Paulo. Roma Gallery director Iridanos Tsirigoulis said the artist has built momentum on the Swiss art circuit, with a growing presence in Geneva, Basel and Gstaad. Mr. Tsirigoulis has said roughly 5,000 visitors passed through the gallery's Volta Basel booth in the first two hours of that fair — exposure he described as building a foundation for future resale performance in the secondary market, where an artist's investment returns are ultimately determined.
Mr. Issachar has said major international fairs like Volta Basel and Art Basel UBS can significantly influence both sales trajectories and pricing for emerging artists.
Describing his own practice, Mr. Issachar said his work examines systems — of language, symbolism and perception — blending mythology, numerology and architectural archetypes through recurring motifs and recurring figures such as king, warrior, magician and lover, often rendered as self-portraits.
According to exhibition organizers, the grid motif reflects his background in economics, evoking both the architecture of data storage and the disorientation of a mythic labyrinth.
Gallery representatives frame the show as an early indicator of upside potential in Mr. Issachar's pricing, though such projections remain inherently speculative and unproven in the secondary market.
