"More jobs, better wages, more job security, with actions. We honor May Day with continuous effort for all workers," the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Niki Kerameus, said on Thursday in a post on her personal social media account.
Specifically, Kerameus pointed out the following, on the occasion of May Day:
"May Day. We support workers and ensure their rights not with words, but with actions and results.
- We reduced unemployment to the lowest rate in the last 17 years.
- Unemployment among women and youth was almost halved.
- Over 500,000 new jobs since 2019.
- We achieved the largest increase in employment across Europe and more than 3 out of 4 people now work full-time.
- A 28% increase in the average salary and 35% in the minimum, to 880 euros. In other words, closer and closer to the target for an average salary of 1,500 euros and a minimum salary of 950 euros in 2027.
- We also "unfrozen" the three-year wage freeze, so that experience is fairly remunerated.
- We protect the rights of workers in practice. With the Digital Labor Card, which now protects over 1.5 million workers, we have 815,000 more declared overtime hours. The hours you work are declared and remunerated.
We continue for more jobs, better salaries, more job security for all."
