Greek police have arrested a 65-year-old Italian man accused of killing his long-term partner and her son in their home in Longos, near Aigio, in what investigators say followed a domestic dispute over the family’s future.
Authorities said the bodies of the 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son, Olympios, Mr. Olympios, were found inside the villa after a violent attack.
Forensic findings indicated Mr. Olympios was shot in the head with a pellet gun while asleep and then stabbed six times.
His mother, who was apparently trying to protect him, was found with more than 20 knife wounds near the bedroom entrance, police said.
Investigators said neither victim showed signs of a struggle, suggesting the attack came by surprise.
The suspect, who had lived with the family for about 15 years, denies the killings and told police he found them already dead when he woke up.
Police detained him after noting that digital security locks showed no sign of forced entry or burglary.
Officers also reported fresh scratches on his hands and seized hidden weapons and recently washed clothing stained with blood from the property.
Detectives believe the killings may have been triggered by a bitter dispute over relocation plans. According to case files, Mr. Olympios had recently returned from postgraduate studies in Germany and wanted to take his ill mother there for specialized treatment, a move the suspect allegedly opposed.
The suspect remains in custody without bail and is expected to appear before a prosecutor for formal arraignment.
