A historic, family-run ice cream parlor on the Greek island of Corfu has been named one of the 100 most iconic in the world, earning a spot on a prestigious global food guide for the third consecutive year.
Papagiorgis, which has been serving traditional sweets and homemade ice cream since 1924, was recognized by the international culinary guide TasteAtlas for its exceptional quality and unique local flavors.
The guide specifically highlighted the parlor's signature black chocolate ice cream, which is made with fresh milk from Corfiot farms.
Papagiorgis is also famed for its distinctive kumquat and seasonal wild strawberry ice creams, flavors deeply rooted in the island’s culinary heritage.
The recognition places the century-old Greek establishment alongside world-renowned ice cream shops in Italy and the United States, cementing its status as a destination for food enthusiasts seeking authentic, artisanal products.
The honor comes as Greece’s tourism season hits its peak, with the small shop in Corfu Town continuing to draw crowds eager to taste a piece of the island's celebrated history.
