Wineries across Greece will open their doors to the public this Sunday, Nov. 9, offering free tours and tastings to celebrate World Wine Tourism Day.
The annual event invites wine enthusiasts to visit vineyards, meet winemakers, and learn about the production process. Wineries will offer tastings of new and aged vintages, as well as the fresh wines from the recently completed harvest.
The initiative is nationwide, with events scheduled in all major wine-producing regions. Participating associations include those from Northern Greece, Thessaly, Central Greece, Attica, the Peloponnese, the Aegean Islands, and Crete.
In Northern Greece, dozens of wineries along the popular "Wine Roads" of Naoussa, the Lakes, and the Olympian Gods will be open. In the Peloponnese, estates across Achaia, Argolis, and Corinthia are also participating.
Most wineries will be open to visitors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The celebration also includes a social media photography contest titled "Cheers to Autumn Wine Tourism." Visitors can post photos from their winery visits on Facebook or Instagram for a chance to win bottles of wine.
Originally established in 2009 as European Wine Tourism Day, the event has been celebrated globally since 2019 on the second Sunday of November.
