Greece’s average annual unemployment rate fell to 10.1% in 2024, continuing a decade-long trend of improvement in the labor market, according to a new study by the business information group ICAP CRIF.
The rate was down from 11.1% in 2023 and 12.4% in 2022.
Stamatina Pantelaiou, Director of Economic Sector Studies at ICAP CRIF, said the Greek labor market has now shown improvement for the 11th consecutive year.
However, the study highlighted a persistent and significant gap in unemployment between women and men. The jobless rate for women stood at 12.1% in 2024, compared to 7.5% for men.
Ms. Pantelaiou noted that this gender gap has been narrowing, falling from a difference of 7.7 percentage points in late 2021 to 4.6 points at the end of 2024.
